Malu Fernandez Scandal on TVPatrol World

Aug 23rd, 2007 | By Jeric Peña | Category: News

Since most of the Filipino Bloggers are busy eating at the Blogger’s Taste Asia Event tonight, I might as well post this here for I know they would really want to catch this one. After months, weeks and days of controversy about the article that Malu Fernandez wrote for People Asia Magazine and Manila Standard Story, finally, here is her response to all the hate mails, hate blogs, and even death threats she’s receiving. (The video is posted after the jump.)

Statement from Malu Fernandez on the OFW Controversy

I am humbled by the vehement and heated response provoked by my article entitled ‘From Boracay to Greece!’ which came out in the June 2007 issue of People Asia. To say that this article was not meant to malign, hurt or express prejudice against the OFWs now sounds hollow after reading through all the blogs from Filipinos all over the world. I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked. It was truly not my intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs.

As the recent recipient and target of death threats, hate blogs, and deeply personal insults, I now truly understand the insidiousness of discrimination and prejudice disguised as humor. Our society is bound together by human chains of kindness and decency. I have failed to observe this and I am now reaping the consequences of my actions. It is my fervent hope that the lessons that Ive learned are not lost on all those who through anonymous blogs, engaged in bigotry, discrimination, and hatred ( against overweight individuals , for example )

I take full responsibility for my actions and my friends and family have nothing to do with this. To date I have submitted my resignation letters to both the Manila Standard and People Asia, on that note may this matter be laid to rest.

Is this for real?

  1. Malu Fernandez reminds me so much of Ruffa Gutierrez and Gretchen Barretto (minus 600 pounds of course). Ms.Fernandez is almost as shallow as those 2 girls.

To Gretchen and Ruffa, you’re a non-entity if you’re NOT wearing a gucci watch or NOT carrying a louis vitton bag. That’s the shallow world of those 2 social climbers.

If Malu Fernandez was really rich, i suggest that she spends her money on Vicky Bello. Take out the excess 600 pounds of flab from her fat ugly body.

In her article, she mentioned that she hates the beach because of the “sand and mosquitos”. I think the real reason is……if she had gone in the water in Greece, she would have caused another devastating Tsunami in that part of the world.

If Malu Fernandez was REMOTELY ATTRACTIVE, i’d feel bad about her article. What gives me consolacion is that if she was the ONLY female left on this planet, i think i’d rather attempt to procreate with a dung beetle then a beached whale like Ms.Malu Fernandez. Look in the mirror Ms.Piggy.

  2. check this video from YOUTUBE out…..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmZQh1EB6tg

It’s about the article of Malu “Ms.Piggy” Fernandez.

  3. With the money she saved from flying economy class, her camp has obviously hired a publicist or a better writer to do (albeit quite late) some damage control. However, a few points:

“It was truly not my intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs.”

DUH! Makes you wonder when or what triggered her epiphany? She should have explained further, that would’ve showed more remorse.

And speaking of remorse, she hasn’t got any. She fires back with:

“It is my fervent hope that the lessons that Ive learned are not lost on all those who through anonymous blogs, engaged in bigotry, discrimination, and hatred ( against overweight individuals , for example )”

(So hold on to your extra cash before you pay your spin-doctors a bonus!)

Now this sounds more like her! She hasn’t learned anything! Firing a right-back-at-you “morality” statement to those who have apparently (finally affected her) maligned her bec. of thier anger. It was a “woe-is-me” and you’re still wrong statement. An appeal would have been better. Suggest a re-phrase (and a discount from your reps.)

It’s a cop-out. As fake as her bitter personality.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and my friends and family have nothing to do with this.”

Great sounds noble enough! Face the charges you b*atch! (Hey that’s what she calls herself, right?)

  4. It’s a complete ignorance.
Either sobrang bilib ka sa sarili mo, Malu or You are ignorant…

Pero Good luck pa rin sa yo, it’s not the end of the World so gon on with life. It happened to Jade Goody against Shilpa Shetty on Big Brother UK. The water is under the bridge now.

  5. Duh!
