The Feasibility and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) project is a model for urban flood risk reduction projects garnering international recognition, as well as winning several American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) awards. The concept design considered aesthetics and community recreational benefits designed to enhance the urban fabric of the communities of Hoboken and parts of Jersey City and Weehawken, New Jersey. Our team developed state-of-the-art coastal and stormwater models, incorporating impacts associated with climate change and anticipated sea level rise to understand and communicate the flood risk, while testing the effectiveness of the proposed improvements. Biography Ken Spahn joined Dewberry in October 2014. Prior to Dewberry, Ken held senior leadership positions with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey over a 30-year career involving capital planning and cost analysis, resiliency and sustainability, program and asset management, waterfront and intermodal redevelopment, facility management, leasing, and financial management. Since joining Dewberry Ken has been involved in a number of Port and Interdmodal development projects and resiliency efforts including the role of Project Manager for the landmark Rebuild by Design Hudson River Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement project. Ken graduated SUNY Maritime College with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and obtained a Master of Science in Management Engineering from NJIT and is a Project Management Professional and served on the Board of the Maritime Association of the Port of New York and New Jersey.
