iBlog4 and 88DB Bloggers Party
Apr 29th, 2008 | By Jeric Peña | Category: Blogging, Entertainment, Fun, Random ThoughtsI was at iBlog4: The 4th Philippine Blogging Summit with my sister Dianne last April 26, 2008. I signed up for last year’s iBlog but failed to attend for reasons, which I forgot. But good thing, I was able to attend this year’s iBlog.
There were a couple of media entities present just like ABC 5 and QTV.
Anyway, the first speaker is Charo Nuguid who talked about “How To Blog (from a non-problogger point of view)”. She also included on her talk the not so bloggable things like how you hate your teacher or your boss. She enumerated different blogging platforms that everyone can use to start a blog.
After Charo Nuguid, a video of Brian Gorell was shown. I didn’t pay much attention to the video but I think he talked about blogging and how to start a blog.
Earning $1,000 a month, Juan Karlo Licudine talked about the transition from being a student blogger to becoming a professional blogger. His mom was there and was shocked to find out that her son was earning $1,000 a month.
Armed with different kinds of camera, Juned Sonido talked about photoblogging. I’m a member of numerous photography forums and I always encounter the saying, “It’s in the Indian not the bow” which he also stated on his talk.
Jonas Diego gave an interesting talk about his web comics being on print.
Coy Caballes and Aileen Apolo showed a video about making your own podcast and video blog. They included a few known Filipino vlogs and podcasts but unfortunately, my podcasts were not one of them.
One of the highlights of iBlog4 is the talk about blogging in relation to the 2010 Elections. Luz Rimban, Manuel L. Quezon III, and Janette Toral gave their introductory spiels and afterwards an open forum transpired. One of the hottest issues that were tackled was the credibility of bloggers.
Atty. JJ Dissini tackled about the Legal Challenges in Blogging. Of course the recent Byahilo incident was a hot topic during his talk. Libel and Copyright Infringement were greatly discussed.
One of the talks, which I intently listened to, is Noemi’s talk about Blogging for Advocacy. She talked Filipina Images whom she co-founded with Lorna Dietz and Dine Racoma.
The perky and funny Ria Jose talked about Blogging from the Countryside. She’s from the free WiFi city, Davao. In fact, she’s a problogger and maintains around 12 blogs. I’m not sure on the number.

After iBlog4, my sister and I went to the 88DB Party at Katips Bar but we didn’t stay that long. We just finished the human bingo, chitchat with some bloggers, had our picture taken at the Fotoloco booth, drink iced tea and then we headed home. We left at around 9:30pm because mom is waiting for us.
PS: I missed Michael Josh’s segment on QTV about the iBlog 4. If you do have a copy of the segment, please share to us. Thanks!

nice to finally meet you and your sis.
