Now, I can say it out loud!

If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you have probably read my entry called, “Pause to Pose
” wherein I narrated my UPCAT 2008 experience. And probably, you’ve seen me blog about the UPCAT 2008 Results, right? Plus, you’ve probably heard / read somewhere that I didn’t qualify to any of my preferred UP Campus.
I thought that University of the Philippines has closed its doors to me.
Luckily, not!
I’m now an approved student of the University of the Philippines, Open University! I just need to wait for my admission package, enroll, pick-up my course materials and I’ll be fine!
My mom got her MPH (Master of Public Health) at UPOU (University of the Philippines, Open University). On the other hand, she took her pre-med course (BS Psychology) at UP Baguio. If I’m not mistaken, I’m the third person from our family to study in UP. First is my mom (who’s ID number starts at 1978), and then came my oldest cousin, who is graduating in the coming days.
I’ll be taking up Associate in Arts (and then would proceed to Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies) at the UPOU this coming academic year. By the way, I’m under the UP Manila Learning Center. I would want to transfer to the UP Diliman Learning Center but the UP Manila LC is much accessible for me.
I’m excited.
Really, excited.
I’ve been looking forward to the results of this since the day that I took the Distance Education Readiness Test (which I took on the same building and room where I took the UPCAT). I was exempted to take the Undergraduate Assesment Test (UgAT) since I have taken the UPCAT 2008 already. They did honor my UPG (University Predicted Grade), which is not bad at all. In fact, I’ve been exchanging e-mails with the OUR (Office of the University Registrar) to follow-up my application. Good thing, they are prompt in replying to e-mails.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
LOL, I’m excited to know what’s my student number.
Any UPOU-AA students here? By the way, the registration for new students is on April 21, 2008. Yes, I’m excited!
Here are some photos from my trip to the University of the Philippines, Open University in Los Baños, Laguna.

hi, I just read your post regarding your DISTANCE EDUCATION READINESS TEST. How was it? is it hard? what are the common questions? I’m also planning to apply for BAMS @ UPOU.
@Princess
Kindly check your e-mail. I sent the answers to your questions thru e-mail. It is quite lengthy.
Thanks for visiting!
hi! i would like to as the same question. i plan to go back to school after a long super dooper hibernation. ngayon lang ako nagkachance. please give me some insights kasi ninierbyos na ako e.
congrats though! thanks for being helpful with us hopefuls!
@Jen: Hi! You can check out UPOU’s website http://www.upou.org and you’ll find the information you need. Don’t be nervous! Just apply and see what happens next. So far, I’m having a great time in UP Open University.
ahhhh… give me an idea of the exam pretty please!!!! hehehehe i will be taking the exam soon….huhuhuh i’m so nervous.
@Lea: what exam are you taking?
I’m glad you made this blog, i like it!
I’m richard, BAMS passer, and to enroll this 2nd sem at UP Open University – Diliman…whew! I’m also excited…just few weeks to go and I’ll be part of UP. At last!
Actually I applied for BAMS but they emailed and said that i was qualified for AA. Thats why i was not able to make it during the 1st semester. I emailed the registrar and requested for reconsideration. They reviewed my records and luckily they approved my request. I’m a graduate of a Diploma course already so i think if I took the AA before going to BAMS would take me a lifetime to gain a Bachelor’s Degree…hope everything will go smoothly same as yours…and I hope makaya ko ang tuition since solo flight ako for this. See you soon schoolmate!!! :p
Hi.
Do you mind sending any info about the distance education readiness test. I am to take it this March. I will be taking the AA-BAMS route also.
Hope you could help me with this one. Congratulations and thanks!
