Idol Gives Back, American Idol’s charitable campaign is now back for the second time. Following the success of the first Idol Gives Back show last year, the seventh season of American Idol staged another special episode to raise funds for the for the children’s charities in Africa and the United States.

So how was the show awhile ago?

(I wrote this while watching the Idol Gives Back show. Thank you to Americanidol.com for the photos.)

The showed opened with the American Idol Top 8 Finalists singing, “Please Don’t Stop the Music” and it was a great opening number! I want to dance now! So You Think You Can Dance Finalists are also onstage. Ryan Seacrest is so funny.

Maria Shriver is now onstage recruiting for some volunteer. She’s with volunteers and they are a lot. “We can all be American Idols in someone’s life” – Maria Shriver

A video was shown with Jennifer Connelly about clean drinking water.

And now, Snoop Dogg and Charlie Wilson are performing onstage, “Can’t Say Goodbye” with a choir! It’s Kobe Bryant’s turn to ask for donations.

The show comes back with Triple H asking people to donate. OMG! He’s scaring the viewers to donate.

Randy Jackson and Paula Adbul traveled about 180 miles to visit Goshen Elementary School. This place is very much different from the glamorous Hollywood. This is sad, they don’t have any safe place for kids to play. Paula and Randy bond with kids

Carrie Underwood is with James Denton and Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives in a skit. Teri Hatcher said to Carrie Underwood, “If you’re going to steal my man, I’m going to steal your song.” Then came Teri Hatcher singing, “Before He Cheats”. After the performance, Carrie comes up the stage and asks for donations. This American Idol gap wraps with a video of Mary Murphy still seeking for donations while shouting obnoxiously and there is the show’s producer Nigel Lythgoe.

And the show is back with the Jonas Brothers asking for people to donate.

Billy Crystal is up onstage introducing and interviewing Miley Cyrus. This segment is hilarious! Then, Miley Cyrus performed, “Good and Broken”.

On the Idol studio, the Idol contestants including Chikezie (now eliminated) are busy manning the telephones to take your pledges. They are all equipped with MacBook Air! That’s cool! Bono went to Africa where he do a documentary about Sophia, a 14 year-old orphan with HIV. She like us to help her, so please, donate!

Julianne More opened this American Idol segment with her “please donate” video.

Fergie is now performing, “Finally” with John Legend on piano.

Now, Heart is performing, “Barracuda” together with Fergie. And here’s John Cena asking for donations.

The show is back with Adam Sandler asking you to donate. According to him, his dog just donated money! Well the dog is actually sleeping. Eli & Peyton Manning shows us a video about the Hurricane Katrina and how the kids cope up with trauma.

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are on the show right now to ask for donations.

Annie Lennox with Bono is in Africa talking with people who lost they loved-ones because of AIDS. Annie Lennox performs, “Many Rivers To Cross”. Kiefer Sutherland asks for donations too and there goes the commercial break.

The show comes back with Celine Dion in Africa.

Then, Jimmy Kimmel introduces Simon Cowell. He is up there to talk about the lack of healthcare in the United States.

Carrie Underwood comes back on stage with the song, “Praying For Time”. Whoopi Goldberg is asking for your donations.

Unfortunately this year, Ellen DeGeneres failed to co-host the show due to “a personal production pressure” though she still appeared on the show and had a short segment.

Gloria Estefan and Sheila E. performed “Get On Your Feet” together with some So You Think You Can Dance dancers.

Sarah Silverman is onstage and she’s hilarious! She introduced Forrest Whitaker. Forrest and Keisha Whitaker talk about the Malaria in Angola. British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has pledged amounting to 200 million dollars.

This show is back with Keith Urban on the video asking for donations.

Legally Blonde is also on the show! Reese Witherspoon asks the people to donate for the Children’s Defense Fund.

And now, the American Idol Top 8 Finalists are singing “Seasons of Love” from the musical “RENT”. Why is Kristy Lee Cook’s voice way too loud? This number is great!

Dane Cook introduces Alicia Keys. They showed us a video of Alicia Keys who traveled to Africa.

Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale were there to ask for donations. And Miley Cyrus is back onstage to perform, “See You Again”. A video of her with Billy Ray Cyrus was also shown about the children who are part of the literacy program.

The American Idol Top 8 Finalists wrap the show with the song, “Shout to the Lord” but they changed “Jesus” to “Sheperd” to avoid controversies, I guess. This is a very heart-warming number. Everything is great!

See you tomorrow night for the results!
